House of Gentians, a Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and Mo Dao Zu Shi fanfiction comic. The Burial Mounds are under siege, and the Yiling Patriarch Wei Wuxian understands he has no chance of winning against the four great sects of the Cultivation World. He admits defeat and surrenders. However, right before the sects pass the verdict, Lan Wangji appears and rushes to his side - to confess his feelings to him. He begs Wei Wuxian to let him save the other by proposing a marriage contract with him. Hearing Lan Wangji's confession and proposition, Wei Wuxian understands that this might be his only chance to save the Wen remnants he promised to protect. He agrees to marry Lan Wangji and stay confined in the Cloud Recesses for the rest of his life, as long as the cultivator makes sure that the sects do not harm the Wens.

After marrying Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian is now a member of the Gusu Lan sect, and thus Lan Wangji can keep him out of harm. However Lan Wangji is bound to another contract as well: he promised to Lan Qiren and to the other sect leaders that the Yiling Patriarch would stay confined in one place and would never leave it for the rest of his days, forbidden to use any cultivation or other arts, to hold weapons, or to create anything that is considered a threat.

To keep his part of the deal with the Cultivation World, and in order to protect Wei Wuxian from them, Lan Wangji decides that the place that would serve as Wei Wuxian's prison is the house that used to belong to his mother; the house amidst the gentian flowers where his father confined his beloved in order to protect her, just as Lan Wangji does today.

Shattered, weak, defeated and hopeless, Wei Wuxian takes what he believes to be his punishment, not believing that Lan Wangji actually wants to shelter him from harm, and not believing that he really loves him, thinking this all is some cruel joke. After all, the other cultivator always rejected him and proved to be his greatest opposer.

Patiently and carefully, Lan Wangji will have to earn Wei Wuxian’s trust and prove him his feelings are true.
